Ruined & Black History Month

It has been so long since I have last blogged, my apologies. I have been trying to get all of my work done before Spring Break so that I can enjoy it to the fullest. With the weather getting warmer, everyone on campus is out a little more, making us the usual social butterflies we are! I seem to have so many papers lately. This only means I have to spend a lot more time working. Once again time management is key. I am still working on that from last semester, but I am having an easier time dealing with it.
There is a ceremony for incoming freshmen who got over a 3.0 during the fall semester that I was fortunate enough to be invited to and my mom came all the way from Baltimore to support me. I had some of my family from North Carolina (mainly Greensboro) there as well. Your GPA is always important because when people are not able to meet you face-to-face that is one of the first things they look at. This advice is coming from someone who is in the process of filling out applications for internships etc.
While my mom came to visit we also saw a wonderful play put on in NCCU's Theatre, Ruined. It was very good. I was surprised to see some of my friends in it whom I had no idea were interested in drama/theatre. This play was a great way for me to celebrate Black History Month, which was one of the purposes of me going. I have to write a paper about a Black History Event on campus to celebrate black history this month. I am also a little upset with myself because that was the first time I saw a play since I have been down here. I plan on attending more arts events.

Quote of the Week: "Many interviewers when they come to talk to me, think they're being progressive by not mentioning in their stories any long that I'm black. I tell them, 'Don't stop now. If I shot somebody you'd mention it."
